In addition to working with Yes Plz Weekly to create a new version of their zine, I was also hired by the local coffee and zine company to design a template for the belly band they use to package their beans and zines in brick and mortar stores. Rather than display their product in the box it ships to online customers in, Yes Plz likes to show off its goods without any covering â and therefore just uses a simple paper wrap to hold them together.
The new template had to satisfy a few requirements: be simple enough in its design setup for anyone working at Yes Plz to be able to update each week; be sized in a way that it could be printed on an at-home printer if needed; and, of course, have eye-catching and concise design to reel in a customer walking by.
The band also acts as a secondary “cover” for the zine, with room to highlight the top stories in each issue and a description of the week’s coffee blend.
