It all started, of course, with a spreadsheet.

In these strange times, my friends and I were struggling to find some basic necessities (eggs, flour, toilet paper). Thankfully, we noticed that our neighborhood restaurants were beginning to turn into little general stores, selling many of the things we needed but could not find at larger outlets. But how could we keep track of which restaurant was selling lettuce and which was selling butter? A spreadsheet, of course.

I posted the link and it traveled around social media. And then, with the help of community additions, the list kept growing. And growing. I realized a new project was in front of me.

I started poking around and found there are great WordPress plugins that translate spreadsheet data into posts. Et … Voila! A searchable, clickable, mobile-friendly website to help Angelenos find the ingredients they are looking for.
