The third annual digital-only Sustainability Issue (click to see the 2023 edition and 2022 edition) was built using newly introduced internal WordPress tools, enabling me to — for the first time — build an issue within our standard CMS. This technical shift required learning a new set of tools but also allowed more flexibility for typography, module sizes, and responsiveness across devices.

An illustrated cover by Peter Greenwood (animated by FolioArt) speaks to the issue’s top story, which looks into what big businesses in the film industry are really doing — or not doing — that will help combat climate change and global warming. The visual concept I came up with was dramatically elevated by Peter’s beautiful craftsmanship.

As with most large projects, I aided the project management for the issue, working closely with the top editor and managing editor. Due to the quantity of stories in the issue, multiple designers contributed photo illustrations, work which I sought to ease and unify by sharing an established a project color scheme.
